what exactly do you do?

I write States Newsroom’s Evening Wrap, a national newsletter focused on trends in state politics that publishes at 8 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday. (It is often snarky.) On nights and weekends, I cover the White House for Bloomberg News. I also make a lot of to-do lists, and I read a lot of books.

did you really meet your husband on ESPN?

I really did! He's cute, and I'm lucky.

why did you go into journalism?

I love writing, I love talking to people, and I'm curious about everything. Reporting allows me to be professionally nosy and then tell people what I've learned. It's the best.

what's your favorite camera?

This is like choosing a favorite pet, and I won't do it.

what kind of name is queram?

It's Czech, and it's pronounced KWAIR-um. Related: my full name is Kate, because my parents wanted something that was short and easy to remember for when people inevitably blanked on "Queram."

what’s it like having twins?

Fun, funny, humbling, exhausting, exasperating, really loud, never ever boring, and always the best part of my life. (Obligatory: I am not a superhero, and you, other mom reading this, are doing a great job.)
