allow me to explain
My second-ever reporting job was with the StarNews, a daily newspaper in Wilmington, North Carolina. Wilmington is a beautiful (and humid) coastal city with a surprisingly active film industry, so you may have seen it on One Tree Hill, Iron Man 3, or this horrible TV movie that was, for some reason, filmed in our newsroom. But probably, you know it from Dawson’s Creek, an angsty, wordy teen drama that filmed in Wilmington for six seasons and arguably established it as a go-to shooting location.
Dawson’s was a big deal for Wilmington, so when the show’s 10th anniversary rolled around, editors at the StarNews planned a bunch of stories to commemorate the occasion. One of them (the film editor, I think?) suggested that we offer readers a fresh look at the first season through my very own virgin eyes, one episode at a time. The series was fairly popular among readers, but the metro editor disliked seeing me watch TV in the newsroom, so she nixed it after I finished season one (rude). I kept it going on my own for a bit, but I didn’t make it very far because it turns out that I kind of hate Dawson’s Creek unless I am being paid to watch it.
But the recaps still make me laugh, so I have preserved them here. If you’d like me to resurrect the project, contact me and talk me into it. (Your proposal will fare better if it involves free wine, cheese, and/or film.)
P.S. Joey is the worst and if you like her you are wrong and should feel bad!!!
